2018 Reentry Support Summit Schedule

Each of the three sessions will include a story, a keynote address, Q&A time, discussion time around the tables, and time to report what was discussed.  The Summit is a time to learn from each other, and wrestle with key issues that are part of reentry support, in the interests of stirring momentum in meeting the need.

8:30am      Check-in and Visit Tables

9:30am      Session One
RAY PEREZ; Prince William Manassas Regional ADC
Connecting Prison Ministry and Reentry Support
Effective reentry support is built on relationships that were developed when the men and women were still in jail or prison.  Churches who make this investment are strategically postured to continue the relationship when the inmate is released.

10:50am      Break

11:10am     Session Two
SCOTT LARSON; Straight Ahead Ministries
Friends and Mentors
Effective reentry support happens because committed friends and mentors help former inmates grow in their faith, develop healthy social networks, find resources for housing, employment, education, recovery, etc., and reintegrate with their community and families.

12:30pm      Lunch (See details below) and Talks
Spotlight: Sheila Donegan (The Boston Dream Center)

Spotlight: Ken Hawley (The Transformation Project)
Talk: Pete Fisk (Reentry Support for Sex Offenders)

1:30pm       Session Three
DEAN TRULEAR; Howard University School of Divinity
Healing Communities
Effective reentry support is more than starting a new program.  It’s part of a larger vision for developing the church as a healing community.

2:45pm       Summit Ends

Our hope is that everyone will stay on the Calvary Christian Church campus for lunch as the schedule is very busy.  There are many places to eat, both inside and outside, and it will be a great time to connect, visit the vendor tables, and help us keep on schedule.

* If you don’t want to pay for your lunch, please feel free to bring your own.

* Catering is from Panera, choosing from five options below.  (If you want to see exact ingredients, you can go to catering.panerabread.com) We NEED to submit our order by Tuesday, May 1. The deadline for placing your order (no exceptions!) is 4/30 at 7:00pm.
